“Let the Little Children Come unto Me…” Matthew 19:14
Papa and Farrah had a wonderful visit this past weekend. During their time together it was with trepidation that Farrah asked Papa to baptize her. She was just a wee bit nervous that Papa might drown her. But it was with great pride and delight, and with smiling eyes that Papa responded, "OF COURSE! I would love too!", and reassured her that he would not in fact drown her but that it would be his honor to baptize his youngest granddaughter.
As of today we are planning Farrah’s baptism to take place this coming Sunday morning (September 6) if Papa’s body is feeling as good as his spirit is. We are beside ourselves that he will be baptizing his granddaughter in the precious name of Jesus!
“For there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

A Fun Filled Day in Beautiful Monterey
Last Friday the children whisked Papa and Nanny away to spend some time together in Monterey. The weather was absolutely perfect. Papa couldn’t have asked for a better way to begin his day!
The getaway included many stops and adventures beginning with a stroll along the pier to sample clam chowder. From there we took a scenic drive to Lovers Point in Pacific Grove where the granddaughters had a giggled filled time playing in the surf. Papa and Nanny enjoyed watching the kids frolicking on the beach and in the waves, which provided many opportunities for soulful laughter. After the beach we drove along the coast to climb some crazy rocks with Tio Guero (or Uncle Ben). We remembered to take some pictures to help us remember just HOW crazy these rocks were! Finally, we wrapped up this special day at the Whole Enchilada for dinner.
We couldn’t have asked for a better day out and about with Papa and Nanny. The Lord truly blessed us to let us have another opportunity to be together. We will never forget the laughter and joy we experienced as a family. “The joy of the Lord is our strength.”

A Green Thumb of Thanks!
Thank you, thank you to those who are helping to keep the landscape around Papa and Nana's house healthly and green. You are doing a great job and it is VERY much appreciated.
An extra special thanks to Beatrice, our eldest granddaughter. She has taken it upon herself to keep our lawn mowed and in great shape. The lawn looks wonderful!

Brother Jess is home from the hospital and gaining strength everyday. He expresses immense gratitude for keeping him in your prayers and for your support through prayer. He enjoys reading your words of encouragement, support, and concern on this blog. So please keep the comments coming! It the meantime it remains crucial that all personal visits be kept short, sweet and positive.
"God bless you all for being a blessing to my wife, children and my grandchildren during this time." Bro. Jess

Wedding Anniversary Weekend
On Sunday morning, July 26, the day of Papa and Nana’s 29th Wedding Anniversary, the happy couple went to church and thoroughly enjoyed and were refreshed by the worship and the Word as well as the company of their church family. After service a very special lunch was prepared with lots of love in their honor. You should have seen Papa’s face when we served him his New York Steak lunch! The steak covered at least half of his plate! It was a well-enjoyed meal and we are grateful for the Lord’s sustaining strength and provision.

Just in Time
Brother Jess “Papa” is home from the hospital, PRAISE THE LORD, just in time to be close to his bride. This coming Sunday, July 26 Papa and Nanny will celebrate their 29th Wedding Anniversary. They plan to enjoy this special day at home with their immediate family.
The goals for Papa in the upcoming days are to rest, gain weight (since first admitted to the hospital Papa has lost around 40 lbs), and to enjoy his family.
Happy Anniversary!

Our Strength is in the Lord!
The Lord continues to strengthen Papa. This past Sunday Papa returned to the hospital with excruciating pain and a high fever due to an infection. He was possibly facing surgery, but thanks be to God it was cancelled. Doctors have started his cancer treatment AND his infection is under control. PRAISE THE LORD!
Another praise report is that his appetite is returning. Yesterday he enjoyed lunch with his granddaughters, Natorie and Farrah, daughter, Victoria, and amazing wife, Linda. Farrah was thrilled to bring along Papa's Bible so she could read his favorite scriptures to him.
The day was full of visitors including his Pastor (Bro. Jonathan Shoemake) as well as many of his church family. Papa particularly cherished the time with an extra special visitor, his son, Isaac.

What an Awesome Family of God!
We are SO proud to be a part of an awesome church family. The Family of God has been overwhelmingly supportive during our time of need. Sister Gutierrez (“Nanny”) has said on many different occasions that she feels the prayers of the Saints. We know you are praying; the abundance of love and support has been evident!
We could never thank you enough and from the bottom of our hearts we express gratitude for the many gestures of love. From the many hours in the ER (sometimes into the wee hours of the morning), the meals brought to the house and hospital, the cards that encourage and strengthen, the beautiful fragrant flowers, to the numerous phone calls of support.
Our family continues to covet your prayers.
Blessings to all,
Sis. Gutierrez, Cindy Ochoa, Victoria Moreno and Isaac Gutierrez

Whose Report Will You Believe?
"I have already won. I served the devil for 26 years and I have served the Lord for 30 years. I am not done!" Bro. Jess Gutierrez
As most of you know Bro. Jess Gutierrez (“Papa”) has been suffering with tremendous pain throughout his body for quite sometime. On Sunday, July 5 the pain became so unbearable that Papa had to be taken to the emergency room and ultimately admitted for further testing, procedures, and surgery. By Friday, July 10 the physicians delivered the report that he has a progressive and aggressive form of cancer in several areas of his body.
In light of this ‘report’, Papa continues to have an awesome and positive attitude, incredible faith and above all anxious to see more souls saved! All of his visitors leave encouraged, uplifted, and some even counseled.
Please unite with us in prayer and trust in the Lord for a miracle. We will believe the report of Lord!
